The Sapphire trail #120, sometimes noted as the Sapphire-Smokey Trail , is 8.0 miles long  from the junction with the Holland-Gordon trail # 35 to the junction with Big Salmon Trail #110. This trail has a steep ascent from Holland Lake to a high plateau. The trail winds through bedrock mounds, passes a side trail down to Sapphire Lakes, and arrives at the junction with Holland- Sapphire Trail #48. It then climbs a pass, passes Necklace Lakes, and meets the Big Salmon Trail #110. Part of this trail is in the Bob Marshall Wilderness.  The trail is open for the following uses: hiking and horseback riding.

Trail #120 can be accessed from Trail #35 or Trail #48 (via #415, #42, and #48).

Directions from Trail #415: From Highway 83 turn east onto Holland Lake Road #44 near mile marker 35. Follow this road about 4 miles to the end, past the day use site and campground, to access the trailhead for trail #415, go 1.4 miles and turn onto the Holland Lookout trail #42 and continue straight onto the Sapphire trail #120 for 3.9 miles to the junction with #120.

 Directions from Holland-Gordon Trail #35: From Highway 83 turn east onto Holland Lake Road #44 near mile marker 35. After 2.5 miles, turn right on Owl Loop Road #9558. Go about 0.5 miles and turn right on Road #10121 to Owl Creek Packer Camp. The camp entrance is located on the right, where parking is available. Trail #35 leaves on the left, across the road from the Packer Camp entrance.  Go 4.4 miles up trail #35 to the junction with trail #120.
