Trail #273 Wobbly Creek

Area Status: Unreachable

This trail is open to hiker, motorcycle, horse and bicycle use.

Beginning on Forest Road 2208, the trail goes through the semi-open Cispus Burn area to Wobbly Lake (1.4 miles). The trail becomes primitive beyond the lake and climbs southwest towards Hamilton Buttes before ending on Forest Road 7807.060.

Wobbly Creek and Wobbly Lake are named after firefighters who dug fireline here during the 1918 fire. The crew was composed of members of the International Workers of the World, a union whose members were often called "Wobblies." The lake was formed when a large mass of soil and rock slid off the peak to the east, damming the creek and forming a lake.
