A very popular campground close to the shore of Takhlakh Lake. The Campground includes ten walk-in sites. The views across the lake of Mt. Adams are outstanding. The northern trails of the Mt. Adams Wilderness are nearby. Takhlakh Loop Trail # 134 originates in the campground and encircles the lake. It’s a 1.1 mile flat hike around the lake. You can also connect to the Takh Takh Meadows trail #136 that leads you to an old lava flow. Great views abound from the top of the lava field. Mosquitos can be numerous in the early season.

Current Conditions: 4/15/24: Deep snow on Forest Road 23 and Forest Road 2329 will impede travel to this campground. Concessionaire hosting is over for season and campground. You can access this campground until snow makes roads impassible but you must follow rules for Disperse Camping and Leave No Trace Gifford Pinchot National Forest - Outdoor Safety & Ethics (usda.gov)!  Campground has both reservation and first come first serve sites July 14-Sept. 10. Make reservations on Recreation.gov up to 6 months in advance or you may call 1-877-444-6777.

General Information

Directions:

From Randle, Washington travel south on State Highway 131 (Forest Roads 23 and 25). Veer left in 1 mile at the Y of Forest Road 23 and Forest Road 25. Continue to follow Forest Service Road 23 for 30.2 miles and turn left on Forest Road 2329. Follow Forest Road 2329 for .78 miles. Road 2329 turns to the right at the junction of Forest Road 5601. Turn right and continue to follow Forest Road 2329 for another .7 miles and arrive at the campground on your right.
