Summit #486


The Summit Trail #486 begins at Lujan Road, FSR #785 and ends at County Road 243.  It follows the Gunnison National Forest boundary and the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail and Colorado Trail for its entire length. The trail follows Lujan Creek until it ascends along the Continental Divide, past Middle Baldy, across Sargents Mesa, across Cameron Park before it drops down into the Tank Seven Creek drainage.  It continues on past Windy Peak, at 11,885 feet, until it intersects with County Road 243 at Marshall Pass.

Directions:

Lujan Road Access:

From Gunnison, travel east on Highway 50 for approximately 7.5 miles to the intersection with Highway 114.  Travel south on Hwy 114 for approximately 30 miles to the intersection with the Lujan Road, FSR #785.  There is parking and access to the trail at this point.

Marshall Pass Access:

From Gunnison, travel east on Highway 50 to Sargent.  Turn right onto Marshall Pass Road, CR 243 and continue to the pass where the trail begins.

Marshall Pass Access:  T. 47N., R. 6E., Section 25.  U.S.G.S. Map: Chester.  Elevation: 8,957 feet.
