North Fork Bear Canyon #653

The North Fork Bear Canyon Trail #653 is used as a connecting route between the Unaweep Trail #601 and the Rim Road, FSR #416.  The upper portion of the trail travels at a level grade through grassy meadows and open aspen until it reaches the head of the canyon. Here it enters denser aspen in the drainage bottom. The trail then climbs out of the drainage at a moderate slope through more open aspen.  It passes a stock pond and crosses a small rocky creek before it begins a steep descent into the North Fork Bear Canyon drainage.  After crossing through a barb-wire fence, it travels at a moderate grade and enters a small meadow with open aspen.  The trail continues at a level grade through a meadow of larkspur and cow parsnip where it can be hard to follow. The North Fork Bear Canyon Trail #653 ends by tying in with the Unaweep Trail #601.
