Winter Camp #645

General Information

NORTHERN ACCESS:

There are several alternative routes for reaching the Northern Winter Camp Trailhead, but the following seems to be the least complicated. About ½ mile before reaching the Northern Forest Boundary on the Divide Road, FSR #402, turn left onto the Dominguez Road, Mesa 24.4 Road, and travel south for 8.2 miles to the Winter Camp Road turnoff. Turn left (east) onto the Winter Camp Road and travel 1.5 miles to the Northern Winter Camp Trailhead.

SOUTHERN ACCESS:

To access the Southern Winter Camp Trailhead, travel south 15.4 miles on the Divide Road, FSR #402, from the Northern Forest Boundary to the Dominguez Road, FSR #408, turnoff. Turn left and travel northeast on the Dominguez Road for 7.4 miles to the Buck Springs Road, FSR #423, intersection.  Turn right onto the Buck Springs Road  and travel south and east 2.3 miles down a side branch of Keith Creek to the western trailhead of the Bad Land Trail.  The Bad Land Trail forks left (northeast) off the Buck Springs Road just before the road crosses the dam of a large stock pond.  Travel on the Bad Land Trail for only 0.13 miles up a shallow sage draw to the Southern Winter Camp Trailhead.
