Cabin #606


The Cabin Trail #606 is a two-track for the entire distance and is used as a connecting route between the Big Creek Road, FSR #403 and the Rim Road, FSR #416.  Motorized travel may be restricted due to spring run off or adverse weather conditions. The trail travels through a mixture of spruce/fir and aspen stands with intermittent open parks. It offers scenic views of the Little Creek drainage as well.

Directions:

UPPER ACCESS:

From the Northern Forest Boundary, travel 9 miles south on the Divide Road, FSR #402, to the junction with the Uranium Road, FSR #404.  Turn right (west) and travel for 2.9 miles on the Uranium Road to its intersection with the Rim Road, FSR 416.  Turn right (northwest) and travel for 2.75 miles on the Rim Road to the Cabin Trailhead.

LOWER ACCESS:

From the Northern Forest Boundary, travel south on the Divide Road, FSR #402, for 3.5 miles to its junction with the Big Creek Road, FSR #403.  Turn right (west) and travel for 5.2 miles on the Big Creek Road in a northwest direction to the Cabin Lower Trailhead.

LOWER TRAILHEAD:

8,200 ft. elevation.  Off the Big Creek Road, FSR #403.  T.  15S.,  R.  101W., Sec. 29.  U.S.G.S. Map:  Casto Reservoir.
