Cedar Mesa #718
The Cedar Mesa Trail #718 passes through heavy patches of spruce-fir timber at the 10,000 ft. elevation. At one point, mid-way through the trail, it passes between a gap between mountains. Traveling through this section may often be hampered by snow drifts for a longer period of time than the rest of the trail. The trail is a good foot and horse trail for the entire distance, however, there are a couple of sections which can prove difficult for ATV travel. This trail is used as a connecting route between the Cedar Mesa Road, FSR #132 and Leon Lake Road, FSR #127.1, but is often used by fishermen for access to the lakes which lie between these roads. Fishing on Cedar Mesa Reservior is very good near the end of the season.

Directions:WESTERN ACCESS:
From the Trickel Park Road, FSR # 121.3, turn onto the Surface Creek Road, FSR #125.1 and travel south for 1.3 miles to the Cedar Mesa Road, FSR #132. Turn left onto Cedar Mesa Rd. and travel for 1.2 miles to the Cedar Mesa Dam and Trailhead. At this location, the Cedar Mesa Trail starts from the southwestern corner of the lake.
EASTERN ACCESS:
Travell north on Hwy 65 from Cedaredge for 3.5 miles to County Road #U75. This road forks right and travels east then north for 6 miles to the Grand Mesa National Forest Boundary and the start of the Surface Creek Road, FSR #125.1 and Leon Lake Road, FSR #127.1. Follow the Leon Lake Road for approximately 5.5 miles. After reaching Marcot Reservoir, this road becomes substantially more difficult and travel by 4-wheel drive is recommended. The Cedar Mesa Trail starts as a very rough two-track which forks off of the left side of the Leon Lake Road.
