Deep Creek Cutoff #709.1
The Deep Creek Cutoff Trail #709.1 serves as a cutoff route from the western portion of the Mesa Lakes Resort area to the Deep Creek Trail #709 and also provides access to the West Bench Trail #501. The trail travels through aspen stands, open meadows and spruce/fir. In the winter when there is adequate snow, many of these trails are used by cross country skiers and people who enjoy snowmobiling.

General Information
Directions:LOWER ACCESS:
Travel south on Highway 65 from Mesa to the Mesa Lakes Resort. Turn right off of Highway 65 onto the road that passes along the eastern side of Jumbo Reservoir and take this road for approximately 200 yards to its intersection with the road that travels along the northern edge of Sunset Lake. At Sunset Lake there is a parking area for fishermen and hikers. West of this parking area is an access road that travels to the old Mesa Lakes Ranger Station, park at the parking area and walk along this access road to the Deep Creek Cutoff Trailhead. From the parking area at Sunset Lake it is approximately ¼ mile to the Deep Creek Cutoff Trailhead.
UPPER ACCESS:
The northern Deep Creek Trailhead is located near the Southwestern shore of Mesa Lake near the Glacier Springs Campground and parking lot. It is located approximately 1/2 mile Southeast of Sunset Lake.
