Haypress #662


The Haypress Trail #662 is moderately steep, climbing up from it's lower end off Turkey Flats Trail #661 to the upper trailhead at the intersection with Ridge Trail #646.  The area consists primarily of aspen, and spruce/fir stands, with opportunities for dispersed camping, hiking, and wildlife viewing during the season.

LOWER ACCESS:

The Haypress Trail begins as a single track in an open meadow at the intersection with Turkey Flats Trail #661.  To reach the beginning of Turkey Flats Trail, take 16.5 Road south from the Glade Park Store for approximately 9.2 miles, past the Mud Springs Campground to the Forest Boundary.  Continue past the Fruita Picnic Ground  to the Turkey Flats Trailhead.  Travel 1.6 miles up the Turkey Flats Trail to the intersection with the Haypress Trailhead.

UPPER ACCESS:

Upper access to Haypress Trail is from the Ridge Trail #646.  To reach Ridge Trail, take 16.5 Road south from the Glade Park Store, past the Mud springs Campground, for approximately 9.2 miles to the Forest Boundary.  Continue past the Fruita Picnic Grounds for approximately another 3.8 miles where Road 400 2E forks to the left off the Fruita Division Road, FSR #400.  Travel 0.4 mile to the Ridge Trailhead.  Travel .57 miles up Ridge Trail to the intersection with Haypress Trail on the left in open Aspen.
