The 1,200 acre Hardin Ridge recreational complex is located on the shores of Monroe Reservoir. Located just southeast of Bloomington, the area is easily accessible from State Highway 446. The area offers camping, picnicking, boat launching, swimming, nature walks, and interpretive programs in a forested environment. For a downloadable brochure click here.

This campground is operated by the Cradle of Forestry Concessionaires during the summer months. They also have a website about the Hardin Ridge campground which may provide additional information.
At a Glance
||Open 24 hours/day though some loops are closed seasonally and water is shut off in winter months. Normally Southern Point Campground Loop is open year-round, however, in 2015, all loops are closed due to low use from January through March.
||$5/vehicle/day fee for day use in the area or $35 annual permit for use of the Hardin Ridge Recreation Area. The fee is only required 4/15 - 10/31. Firewood is available (1 cu foot bundles) for $5.
||All visitors must purchase a daily use permit during the recreation season (April 15-October 15). Instructions are provided if the gatehouse is not staffed. The permit is $5/vehicle, more for buses. Annual passes for day use are $35 (America the Beautiful Access and Senior discounts are honored) and the pass is good for Hardin Ridge, Tipsaw Lake and Indian-Celina Recreation Areas. There is also a 2-mile hike and bike trail that parrallels the campground road, runs between the camping areas and to the beach. It is the only trail on the Hoosier where bicycles can be ridden without a trail permit.
||A complete list of US Forest Service rules and regulations are posted on bulletin boards in the campground. No hardwood firewood may be brought in to the recreation area unless it has been certified by the USDA or IDNR.

Hardin Ridge is just west of State Route 446 on the south side of Lake Monroe. The recreation area is southeast of Bloomington and can be accessed by taking State Road 46 to State Road 446 then south to Chapel Hill Road where signs will direct you in to the recreation site.
