Area Status: Closed
Nestled high on the slopes of the Schell Creek Range Timber Creek Campground is in the middle of a spruce, fir, and aspen forest setting. Timber Creek is a perennial stream and runs through the campground, with all sites within a stone’s throw from it. Many recreation opportunities exist in this beautiful area. Such activities include hiking, birding, and horseback riding.
This campground has six reservable sites. All sites have picnic tables, a serving table, fire ring with grate, and cement site pads. Vault toilets are provided as is potable water, but no garbage service is available. A small playground is available as well.
There are wilderness trails (hike and horse) and ATV trails (Ranger Trail).

From Ely, Nevada, take US 93 north and drive 5 miles north past the town of McGill. Turn on State Route 486 and continue 8 miles on this paved road. Turn left on Forest road 425 at the Timber Creek sign. Drive up this dirt road another 3 miles to the campground.
Parking is widely available.
