The campsites at Rock Creek Lake sit on a low hill overlooking the lake with great views and a few trees. This 28 unit campground is a perfect location for limitless mountain recreation opportunities including fishing, camping, hiking and horseback riding at the nearby pack station.
At a Glance
Major reconstruction activities will be taking place on Rock Creek Road for the duration of the 2014 and 2015 seasons. While the road will remain open to traffic throughout the project, visitors may experience delays of up to 30 minutes. Additionally, at certain times, the road may need to be closed for longer periods of time, Monday through Friday.

Dogs on leash only. Maximum stay 7 days. This is Bear Country. All food must be secured overnight and when not attended, bear boxes are provided and must be used ( typical bear box size 48"x30"x36" ) Always keep a clean camp and do not feed animals, squirrels and rodents. Fires permitted only in fireplaces provided.
Bishop 25 miles, Crowley Lake ten miles
America the Beautiful Senior and Access Passes are accepted for half priced camping. Follow the instructions on the bulletin board at the campground.
Directions from Mammoth Lakes: Drive south on US 395 for approximately 13 miles. Take the Tom's Place turnoff and proceed west up the canyon for about ten miles. Directions from Bishop: Travel north on US 395 for about 30 miles, turn left at the Tom's Place turnoff then proceed west up the canyon for about ten miles.
Please note that parking can be 25 to 75 feet away from the individual campsite so your vehicle will not actually be "in" the campsite but rather adjacent or near to it.
Camping & Cabins
This campground is at high elevation and usually is not clear of snow until late in May or early June.
Campfires permitted only in fireplaces provided.
