This large campground (133 sites) is located along Rock Creek. Many of the sites are under tall trees, some sites along the creek.  Some campsites may be reserved by calling 1-877-444-6777 or at www.recreation.gov.

At a Glance

Operational Hours: Major reconstruction activities will be taking place on Rock Creek Road for the duration of the 2014 and 2015 seasons.  While the road will remain open to traffic throughout the project, visitors may experience delays of up to 30 minutes.  Additionally, at certain times, the road may need to be closed for longer periods of time, Monday through Friday.
Reservations: Some sites are first come-first served, some sites may be reserved by calling 1-877-444-6777 or at www.recreation.gov.
Fees $22 per night.

Busiest Season: July-August
Restrictions: Dogs on leash only. Maximum stay 21 days. Active bear area. All food must be secured overnight and when not attended; bear boxes are provided and must be used (typical bear box size 48" x 30" x 36").  Always keep a clean camp and do not feed animals, squirrels and rodents.

Passes: The America the Beautiful Access and Senior Passes are honored here for 1/2 price camping.

General Information

Directions:

From Mammoth Lakes go south on US 395 for approximately 13 miles. Take the Tom's Place exit and follow Forest Service Highway 12 (Rock Creek Road) for about five miles. From Bishop go north on US 395 for about 30 miles. Take the Tom's Place exit and follow Forest Service Highway 12 (Rock Creek Road) for about five miles. The campground will be on the left.
