Table Mountain Group Campground

Sandy trail leads to walk in tent campsite.

Walk down a short trail shaded by Aspen and Jeffrey pine to discover a stream side camp located next to Bishop Creek. This is a great base camp for fishing, hiking or just relaxing. This group site has room for up to 25 people and must be reserved.

Walk in tent camping only. Campsite has a vault toilet, bear boxes, campfire rings and tables. Bring your own drinking water.

Less than a mile up the road is the Tyee Lakes Trailhead. The trail climbs the flank of Table Mountain with views of the Inconsolable Range and peaks near South Lake.

Within a few miles:
- Boat ramp and bait shops are located at South Lake and Sabrina Lake.
- Convenience stores, firewood, snack bar, restaurant are located at South Fork, Bishop Creek Lodge, and Parcher’s Resort.
- Nearby trails for day hikes go to Tyee, Green, Brown, Treasure Lakes and the Chocolate Lake loop on the Bishop Pass trail.
- Horseback rides into the John Muir Wilderness can be arranged with Rainbow Pack Outfit.

Overnight wilderness trips require a wilderness permit.

Directions

From Highway 395 in the center of Bishop, turn west on Line Street (Highway 158) for 14 miles. At the South Lake/ Sabrina Lake junction, turn left (south) and continue another 4.3 miles. Table Mountain Group Campground is past the resort community of South Fork.
