Nordheimer Flat River Access

  

The Nordheimer Campground is administered by the Six Rivers National Forest. The river access is a graded gravel road to a cobble bar.

Permit Info: A current California Campfire Permit is required to use a camp stove, barbecue or have a campfire. Local fire restrictions supersede the campfire permit. Inquire at the Ranger Station before having a fire.

General Information

Directions: From Orleans travel 8 miles north on Hwy 96 to Somes Bar. Go east on county road 2B01 approx 14 miles to the campground. Drive down to the cobble bar on the river.

Campground Camping

Remnants from historic mining operations can still be seen in this remote but beautiful camping area. A few fruit trees remain from past homesteading activities. Boat access to the Salmon River is available with 4x4 vehicles.

Group Camping

Nordheimer is in the heart of the Salmon River whitewater area. Boat access to the river's edge is available with 4x4 vehicles. There are 4, reservation only group sites with tables and vault toilets.
