No fee for river access. Campground and group camps require fee.
A current California Campfire Permit is required to use a camp stove, barbecue or have a campfire. Local fire restrictions supersede the campfire permit. Inquire at the Ranger Station before having a fire.

Directions: From Orleans travel 8 miles north on Hwy 96 to Somes Bar. Go east on county road 2B01 approx 14 miles to the campground. Drive down to the cobble bar on the river.
A good area for riparian wildlife.

Gold Panning on the Salmon River is regulated by CA Dept of Fish & Game.

The Nordheimer Campground is administered by the Six Rivers National Forest. The river access is a graded gravel road requiring 4 wheel drive to a cobble bar.
