This campground, on the shoreline of Cooper's Lake near Ovando, Montana, is a semi-remote, developed campground which offers shady rest and a beautiful view of the lake and adjacent mountains. The Bob Marshall and Scapegoat wildernesses are 7 miles away by trail. Big Nelson has tent camping only. No camping is allowed in the parking lot and no trailers are permitted.

General Information
Directions: From the junction of Montana highways 83 and 20 (also known as "Clearwater Junction") travel east on Montana nighway 200 for 19.5 miles. Turn north on North Fork Blackfoot Road #5550 and follow the signs 12 miles on a gravel road to the campground. General Notes: A picnic table and fire ring is available at each campsite. 19 miles to groceries and gas. Pack out your own trash. Fishing and primitive boat launch on Cooper's Lake. 7 miles by trail to Bob Marshall and Scapegoat wildernesses. Patrolling volunteer campground hosts. Periodic law enforcement patrols.
Campsites are on a steep sideslope above the lake. Parking is in one common parking lot. These campsites have a view and are next to Cooper's Lake in a shady, vegetated environment.

Non-motorized boating is a great way to view wildlife and appreciate the landscape in the area. Motorized boating is permitted on this lake, so most non-motorized boats find areas away from high traffic watercraft use. Early mornings are also a good time for non-motorized craft.
