Genoa Peak (Tahoe Rim Trail)

  

The Genoa Pike hike takes you on the Tahoe Rim Trail that runs along the east shore of Lake Tahoe.  Park at the Spooner Summit Rest Area located along the south side of Highway 50.  The trail begins behind the Nevada Department of Transportation building.  You can get additional information about the Tahoe Rim Trail from their web site by visiting http://www.tahoerimtrail.org.  Several views of the Carson Valley as well as glimpses of Lake Tahoe can be seen along this forested trail.  It is approximately 4 miles to Genoa Peak with a low elevation of 7,000 feet and a high elevation of 9,150 feet.

Access: Spooner Summit (Kingsbury)- The trail begins behind the Nevada Department of Transportation building. Attractions and Considerations: Spooner Summit (Kingsbury)- Several views of the Carson Valley as well as glimpses of Lake Tahoe can be seen along this forested trail. Off Highway Vehicles (OHV) roads can be used for loops and access to Kingsbury Grade.
