Old Folks Flat Group Campground


Old Folks Flat Campground is nestled in beautiful Huntington Canyon along the Huntington Canyon National Scenic Byway on Utah Highway 31 at an elevation of 8,600 feet. Large spruce trees and aspens offer partial shade. The canyon area has numerous lakes and streams, vibrant summer wildflowers, colorful fall foliage, and abundant wildlife. Trailheads are about a mile away in either direction.  There are 9 campsites -- 5 group sites, and 4 individual sites, one of which is not reservable.

  • ATVs/OHVs are not permitted in this campground. If they are brought in, they need to remain on trailers or in vehicles.

Campground Camping

Campground has 4 individual sites and five group sites.  Individual sites are separated from group sites for privacy.  Sites have fire rings, grills, picnic tables and serving tables.  Individual sites accommodate 8 people.

General Notes:

This campground is primarily devoted to group sites, but four single sites are available also, three of which are reservable. Group sites have large picnic tables, fire rings, grills, and serving tables, and are set apart from individual sites for privacy and quiet. The facility has recently been upgraded with flush toilets and potable water spigots, but there is no electricity or garbage service. This is a pack it in, pack it out site so all trash must be removed upon departure. Roads and parking spurs are gravel. A campground host is onsite.

The Huntington Canyon National Scenic Byway is part of the 86-mile Energy Loop, and offers stunning mountain and lake views as it tops 10,000 feet in elevation. The historic Stuart Guard Station Visitor Center is nearby, offering a glimpse of the 1930s life of a ranger and his family who once lived there. Exhibits of CCC work and original equipment are on display, and area information is available as well.

Group Camping

This campground has 5 group sites, with large picnic tables, fire rings, and serving tables.  Three sites accommodate 50 people, one accommodates 60, and one accommodates 20.
