Aspen Campground

Area Status: Closed

Aspen Campground has 7 sites and is located near Gould, CO. It is approximately 22 miles southeast of Walden and is adjacent to the South Fork of the Michigan River and has an elevation of 9,200 ft.

Aspen Campground is very primitive camping and is best suited for tent camping and small trailers. The campground itself is a small loop in a large grove of aspen and the soil is rich with Columbine. The amount of shade at each campsite vary widely. Some campsites have decent shade while others are out in the open.

There is cellular service for most as the area surrounding the campground is populated.

RECREATION: While recreation nearby is very limited, campers could take a drive to find recreation such as hiking and fishing. Also in the area is the Moose Visitor Center for Colorado State Forest. The Center tells the story of the North Park moose and early timber camps. It also features information on the park and its wildlife.
