Routt Access Trailhead
Primarily a river access point at the upstream end of Northgate Canyon and Platte River Wilderness. Open sagebrush area with rock outcroppings and scattered limber pine. Heavy use during peak river-running season (late April - early July) then otherwise moderate to light use.

General Information
Directions: Directions from Walden: Head north on Highway 125 for 13 miles to and intersection with Hwy 125 and Hwy 127. Take the left turn on Hwy 125. Drive approximately 4 miles and take the right hand turn at the sign for the Routt Access Trailhead. Drive 1/4 mile to the trailhead and river access area.Activities
River and Stream Fishing
The North Platte River is classified as a blue-ribbon trout stream by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD). Fish species present include brook, brown and rainbow trout. Douglas Creek, located within the Platte River Wilderness, also offers good fishing opportunities.
Special fishing regulations apply to the North Platte River upstream of Saratoga, Wyoming. All watercraft (except for inflatables 10’ or less in length) must have a valid Wyoming Aquatic Invasive Species decal. For additional information on boating and fishing regulations, contact the WGFD in Laramie or Cheyenne.
