Blue Lake Trail 604

  

This easy, short hike to a picturesque subalpine lake is great for families. Begin in an old clear-cut and quickly enter the forest.   At 0.2 mile arrive at a junction with Dock Butte Trail 604.1. Stay left, wandering through trees and meadows 0.5 miles before dropping to Blue Lake at 4,000-feet elevation.

Blue Lake supports a population of trout.

Permit Info: A Washington State fishing license is required for fishing. A Washington State Sno-Park Permit is required December-April at the Mt. Baker NRA Sno-Park on FS road 12.
Usage: Heavy
Best Season: Summer / Fall
Restrictions: Hiker only. Use established campsites at the lake.
Water: Water is available but should be treated for drinking.
Restroom: • Vault toilet at trailhead. Mountain toilet near lake.
Passes: A valid Recreation Pass required at Blue Lake/Dock Butte Trailhead.

General Information

Directions:

From the Mount Baker Ranger District office in Sedro-Woolley, follow State Route 20 east for 16 miles to milepost 82. Turn left (north) on the Baker Lake Highway (Forest Service Road #11). Continue on the Baker Lake Highway for 12 miles to F.S. Road #12 and turn left. Follow Road #12 for 7 miles to Road #1230. Turn left on Road #1230. Trailhead and parking area are located in 4 miles at the end of the road.
