Ridley Creek Trail 696

Area Status: Open

Follow the Ridley Creek drainage through Mt. Baker Wilderness to Mazama Park and end at the junction of the Bell Pass Trail 603 in the Mt. Baker National Recreation Area. Large western hemlocks and groves of Alaska yellow cedar highlight this trail. In the first 0.5 mile you cross the Middle Fork of the Nooksack River. There is no bridge and fording the river may not be possible during high river flows.

Note: Ridley Creek Trail has received minimal maintenance over the past several years and is not recommended for stock.

Restrictions:	Hiker and stock trail. Open to stock July 1-Oct. 31. Open to llamas year round. Wilderness regulations apply in Mt Baker Wilderness. Within Mt. Baker National Recreation Area camping is permitted in designated sites only and campfires are prohibited. Forest Service Road 38 is closed and gated Dec. 1- June 15 at Wallace Creek, 2.8 miles before the trailhead to protect elk breeding habitat.

Restroom:	None at trailhead or along trail. Use approved method to pack out solid human waste.

Directions:

From the Mt. Baker Ranger District office in Sedro-Woolley, WA head north on State Highway 9 for 14 miles. Then turn right onto Mosquito Lake Road and follow for about 9 miles. After crossing the Middle Fork of the Nooksack River, turn right (east) on Forest Service Road 38. The trailhead is near the end of Forest Service Road 38 approximately 13 miles from Mosquito Lake Road.

(Forest Service Road 38 may also be reached from the Mt. Baker Highway SR 542 via Mosquito Lake Road at milepost 16. Turn south onto Mosquito Lake Road and travel 4.8 miles to Forest Service road 38.)
