East Creek Campground

East Creek Campground offers horse camping and equestrian access to the South Warner Wilderness. Corrals and stock water are available. East Creek Trail is currently closed (inaccessible) but there is connector trail over to Patterson Campground which provides access to the Summit Trail. Tree clearing along the East Creek trail is planned to take place in Spring 2023.

General Information

Directions:

From Alturas go south on US Hwy 395 approximately 18 miles to Likely, CA. Turn east on County Road 64/Jess Valley Rd and go 3.2 miles to Blue Lake Road. Turn right on Blue Lake Road/ County Rd 64 and continue approximately 7 miles to the turnoff for Blue Lake. Turn left and stay on County Road 64 (instead of a right turn to Blue Lake) and continue 8 more miles of windy road to the Patterson Campground and Guard Station. From Patterson go west .7 miles to East Creek Campground.

Activities

Campground Camping

Visitors without horses may use the East Creek Campground.  For safety, please keep children and pets away from the corrals and horses.

RV Camping

RV's and trailers will fit into most sites at East Creek Campground.

Horse Camping

Each site has a 12'x12' metal pipe corral, a table and fireplace. At almost 7,000 feet, the day time temperatures are comfortable for horses all summer long.
