Sno-Park: Marble Mountain

The shelter burned to the ground during the 2010-11 season, and has not yet been rebuilt. Please inquire with Mount St. Helens staff to learn how to help construct a new shelter.

Current Conditions: 1/16/2015:Open. 1-2 inches of snow. Forest Road 83 is open to Marble Mountain Sno-Park. Traction tires/chains recommended.
Permit Info: Attn. Snowmobilers, Skiers \& Snowshoers: Climbing permits are required year round for everyone traveling above 4,800 ft. elevation on the slopes of Mount St. Helens.  Permits are available online only through the Mount St. Helens Institute April 1st thru October 31st.  Permits are self issue and free of charge Nov. 1st  thru March 31st. Winter Climbing Permits are available at the Climbing Registers at Marble Mountain Sno-Park and at the Lone Fir Resort in Cougar, WA.

Snowmobiles are prohibited in the the Non-motorized corridor between Monitor Ridge and the Worm Flows climbing routes.
The restricted research area north of the volcano is closed to snowmobiles and to off-trail ski and snowshoe travel.

Passes: A Sno-Park Pass is required during the winter season.  Beginning April 1st, Sno-Park Passes are no longer required at this location.

General Notes:

Climbing Permits are required year round for all travel above 4800 ft on the slopes of Mount St. Helens. Climbers and Snowmobilers can self issue their winter permits at the Lone Fir Resort in Cougar WA . Winter Permits are free of charge from Novemeber 1 to March 31.
