Green Canyon Way Trail #793A


This trail enters the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness.  It is a more primitive trail that climbs through a classic Westside Cascade forest. The trail begins at Green Canyon Campgound and ends at Trail #793.

Green Canyon Way Trail #793A is a steep narrow trail. It climbs from the Salmon River to Hunchback Trail #793 and gains a total of 2,400 feet in elevation in 3.2 miles. For a difficult 14.5 mile clockwise loop, follow this trail to the east end, then go right (southeast) on Hunchback Trail #793 3.6 miles to its south terminus. Go right (southwest) at Kinzel Lake Trail #665 2.1 miles to Salmon River Trail #742. Go right (northwest) on Salmon River Trail #742 5.6 miles to Salmon River Road (Forest Road 2618) and Green Canyon Campground.

Directions:

From Portland, OR - travel 17.3 miles east of Sandy on US Hwy 26.  Turn right (south) on Salmon River road and follow it south for 4.6 miles to Green Canyon Campground.  Parking is available in the day use area in the campground. The trail starts across the road to the east.
