Fret Creek Trail #456A

This more difficult trail enters the Badger Creek Wilderness.  This is a nice hike that passes Oval Lake on the way to Divide Trail #458. This trail is very steep and arduous. It follows Fret Creek and connects with Divide Trail for numerous scenic vista opportunities. The trail is approximately 2 1/2 miles long. A trailhead provides capacity for 4 car stalls and restroom facilities are located at the nearby Fifteenmile Campground.

This trail begins at Fret Creek and ends at its junction with Divide Trail #458. From the trailhead, the trail climbs gradually and crosses Fret Creek three times over the first 1.3 miles. From the third crossing, the trail climbs more steeply for 0.5 mile to Oval Lake.  From Oval Lake the trail climbs along the west side of the lake 0.2 mile to its junction with Divide Trail #458.

Sections of this wilderness trail are maintained thanks to the help of the Back Country Horsemen of Oregon Columbia Gorge Chapter volunteers
