Lake Harriet Renovation Project – September 2017
Lake Harriet Campground and Day Use Area will undergo construction beginning after Labor Day weekend in 2017. The lake will remain open during construction but there will be times when the road or areas within the site are not accessible during the renovation project. Improvements to Lake Harriet Day Use Area include more vehicle and boat trailer parking, a new restroom, an expanded picnic area, and new boat ramp. A 500-foot walkway will be installed along the shoreline to allow for fishing access. Parking will not be allowed along FS Road 4630 but rather traffic pullouts will be added to provide safer access for traffic and emergency vehicles.
Changes to Lake Harriet Campground include improved traffic flow and upgrades to campsites such as: new tables and fire rings; the installation of a new restroom; and development of a trail to the day use area. The section of FS Road 4630 adjacent to the campground and day use area will be paved.
Construction is expected to be completed by the beginning of the 2018 recreation season.
