Timothy Lake- North Arm Campground

The North Arm Campground is tucked away on the north shore of Timothy Lake, in the shadow of Mt. Hood. The campground contains an improved boat launch and dock, parking, and water. The campground offers 12 campsites for tent and RV camping. There are four hike-to campsites available as well. The campground offers fishing, swimming, and access to the popular Timothy Lake Trail.

Reservations: All sites at North Arm Campground are reservable. If reservable sites are open, they are first-come, first-serve until the next reservation arrives. Campsites can be reserved by calling Toll Free 1-877-444-6777 (International 518-885-3639 or TDD 877-833-6777) or on-line at www.recreation.gov. Reservations available Memorial Day through Labor Day.

  • Camping
    • $26/night for standard non-electric single site
    • $22/night for Hike-in non-electric single site
    • $10/night for extra vehicle
    • Holiday weekend camping rates are an additional $2 per night
  • Day use:
    • $10/day/vehicle
    • Northwest Forest Pass or Interagency Pass are accepted in lieu of day use fee payment.

General Information

Directions:

From Sandy, OR - travel east on Highway 26 for approximately 40 miles to Skyline Road (Rd 42). Turn right on Skyline Road, travel south 9 miles. Turn right on FS Road 57, west 2+ miles, go over Timothy Lake Dam. Follow 58 north, past Forest Roads 5830, 5850 and 5860, to Forest Road 5890. Follow 5890 south to Forest Road 5890-012. Follow 5890-012 south to the campground.

Campground Camping

Small trailers can fit at most of the sites, but they are intended for tents. Four campsites are tent only.

Lake and Pond Fishing

Fishing in Timothy Lake. Size: 1,388 surface acres, Elevation: 3,227 feet.

Water Temperature Depth: 45' average depth, 80' maximum depth
Water/Flow Level Rainbow trout, brook trout, kokanee, cutthroat trout. Trout are stocked in the lake several times a year.

Day Hiking

A hiking trail circles the lake, and a spur trail from the campground accesses the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail, and on to Little Crater Lake Geological Area or south to Clackamas Lake.

Boating - Motorized

Boating on Timothy Lake. 10 mph speed limit for motorized boats. An artificially created lake, it is one of a few lakes on the Mt. Hood National Forest that allows motorized boating.
