The newly renovated Float Camp Recreation Area is situated on the east bank of the Current River. It provides both a campground and setting for day use waterbased activities. The popular Float Camp day use area provides picnic sites, a pavillion and wading for up to 200 visitors. The Float Camp Camground is adjacent to the day use area. This is a large, open campground with little privacy screening between campsites. While there's not much solitude, but you'll enjoy level, roomy campsites and have a good opportunity to socialize with adjacent campers. Campground: 20 campsites, each with table, fire ring, and lantern post, including 8 with electrical hook-ups.. No individual water hook-up, but pressurized water system provides drinking water for campers. Trash cans or dumpsters and vault toilets are centrally located. No sewage disposal is available. Nightly fees are $12 per basic single campsite and $18 for a basic double campsite, with a 50% discount for anyone who has a Golden Age or Golden Access Passport, a Senior Pass, or an Access Pass. Electric sites are $20 for a single and $30 for a double. Picnic Area: covered picnic tables, fire grills, vault toilets, trash cans or dumpsters, and water access for wading. Drinking water is available. Several individual picnic sites provide a table and grill for picnicking under a shade tree. One group picnic area with a pavilion is available on a reservation basis. Day use fee for anyone not staying in the campground is $2 per standard vehicle, buses are $10, and season passes sell for $20, with a 50% discount for anyone who has a Golden Age or Golden Access Passport, a Senior Pass, or an Access Pass. Boating, canoeing, tubing: Hot summer days attract hundreds of weekend floaters. CAUTION! Current River is swift and has many snags that must be avoided. Wear life jackets! Swift current near Float Camp may be hazardous! No lifeguard is on duty. Swimming, wading, and water play: There is not a developed beach at Float Camp Recreation Area, but this is a popular area for wading and water play. The Forest Service does not provide lifeguards, post boundaries, test water quality, or measure water depth or current in this area. Anyone wishing to wade here needs to carefully consider the risks involved, and take steps to assure their own protection and that of other members of their party, particularly children. Fishing: Wade, bank and boat fishing permitted. Hiking: Woodchuck Trail is a half mile long trail connecting Float Camp Picnic Area with the campground. White Oak Trail is a 1.5-mile loop trail originating at the Float Camp Picnic Area's parking lot.

Fees For the Campground there is a daily overnight fee of $12 per night for a single. There are no double campsites. For the day use area there is a daily parking fee of $2 per day for vehicles and $10 per day for buses. You may buy a seasonal parking pass at the Eleven Point Ranger District. The pavilion at the day use area has a rental fee of $35 per day. There is no reserve system for the campground or day use. The pavilion can be rented under the reserve system. There is a 50% discount for anyone with a Golden Age, Golden Access Passport, Senior Pass, or an Access Pass.

Restrictions: Campground: Fees will be paid at the fee tube provided. No group camping is available. Fireworks are prohibited. Quiet hours between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am should be observed. Campsite parking allows for two vehicles per site. More specific restrictions are located on the provided recreation bulletin boards. Park only in designated parking areas.

General Information

Directions: Located approximately 5 miles north of Doniphan, Mo. From State Highway 160 take County Road Y heading north for approximately 5 miles. Take a left onto Forest Road 3210. Continue down FR 3210, veer to the left to go to Float Camp Campground or veer to the right to go to Float Camp Day Use area.
