Parallel Trail #668
From Dent Ridge at a small campsite about 2.7 miles NE of Anderson Butte, the trail descends to the West Fork of Anderson Creek at 1.3 miles. The trail location is difficult to follow through the small meadows for the first half mile from Dent Point Trail #608. From the West Fork of Anderson Creek the trail contours around a ridge and crosses Anderson Creek at 2.3 miles. The trail leaves Anderson Creek on a moderate uphill grade and continues to Sheep Drive Ridge at 3.8 miles. It proceeds downhill and intersects Butte Creek Trail #809 at 4.4 miles. The trail descends into and contours around a ridge to a large meadow at 6.3 miles. It continues to Spur Creek at 8 miles. Continuing uphill, the trail intersects Simmons Ridge Trail #610 at 9 miles from Dent Ridge. The trail continues on a gentle downhill grade about 9.5 miles, contours along the slope, crossing Simmons Creek at 11.6 miles. It continues over a low ridge and climbs to intersect with West Fork Sable Creek Trail #672 at 13.7 miles from Dent Ridge. The trail rises to cross the West Fork of Sable Creek and remains nearly level for 1.5 miles when it drops 800 feet to a ford on the main fork of Sable Creek. The trail continues to Tamarack Salle, where Sable Hill Trail #611 branches off to the NW. From Tamarack Saddle, it gradually ascends 1000 feet along a ridge, where it meets Matteson Ridge Trail #615 that branches off to the northeast. The trail continues approximately 1 mile to an old hunters' campsite in an open saddle. Watch for a spring just off the trail. It is then one mile to the junction of Trail #668 and the Divide Trail #505. Windfall trees may be expected because of the trail's sidehill location. Be equipped to remove fallen trees or be prepared to go around or under the windfalls. The trail is not recommended for motorcycles, snowmobiles, or cross-country skiing because of its sidehill location and possibility of many trail obstructions.
