White Sand Campground
59 miles southwest of Missoula, Montana, White Sand Campground is found between the Elk Summit Road and Lochsa River adjacent to White Sand Pond. The campground is underneath a stand of mixed conifers and shrubs. The campground consists of one loop with seven sites. A day use area located adjacent to the pond is popular for fishing and picnicking.
The Campground will accomodate 30-ft. RV's.

General Information
Directions:White Sand Campground is located one mile down the Elk Summit Road #111 after turning off US Highway 12 at about milemarker 164. The turn-off for this well-maintained gravel road is located 59 miles southwest of Missoula, Montana. This junction is two miles east of the road to Powell Ranger Station. White Sand Campground is located between the Elk Summitt road and Lochsa River adjacent to White Sand Pond.
Activities
Campground Camping
1 loop with 7 sites on a single gravel loop road.
Parking spurs are gravel.
One fee station, one bulletin board and a dumpster near the entrance to the campground.
All of the campsites have a picnic table and a fire ring.
Lake and Pond Fishing
The day use area is around White Sand pond. Idaho Fish and Game stocks the pond with fish (trout) each year. The pond is a popular fishing hole from May through July. The day use area has parking, two picnic tables and one fire ring. No fee is charged at this time.
River and Stream Fishing
The Lochsa River is known for its steelhead, salmon and trout fishing. Catch and release only. The best time to break out the poles are in mid-August through September.
Day Hiking
The Lewis and Clark Trail is nearby. The route is good for those looking for a quick day hike or a longer backpacking trip.

The area surrounding White Sand Campground is well known for its superb berry picking opportunities.
Picnicking
The day use area around the pond comes with parking, two picnic tables and one fire ring and offers wonderful views of the pond and surrounding scenery while picnicking.
