Chattooga Wild and Scenic River


The Chattooga River originates in the mountains of western North Carolina and runs 57 miles from North Carolina into Georgia and South Carolina. Designated as a Wild and Scenic River the Chattooga River corridor includes 15,432 acres. A section of the river also runs through the Ellicott Rock Wilderness.

Permit Info: Boaters are required to self register.
Restrictions: The Boating is permitted December 1-April 30th.  Boating is permitted from the Confluence of Greens Creek to the Burrell’s ford Bridge when flow levels are 350CFS and above based on the Burrell’s Ford Gauge. During Daylight hours( 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset).
