Open area for camping at River Forest

Camp along the shores of the St. Johns River with your group at River Forest, a group campground shaded with large live oaks on a flat, grassy patch down to the river. Located just across the river from Deland, this group camp can handle up to 125 campers at a time.  The area was recently renovated.  A screened group pavilion close to the St. John’s River is the focal point of the site.  The restroom facility and pavilion meet accessibility standards.

Restrictions: A maximum of 125 people are permitted at River Forest. There are no campsites established, so camping is primitive among the trees.
Closest Towns: Deland is southeast of River Forest via CR 42, SR 44 east of the St. Johns River, with all services.

General Notes:

River Forest Group Campground is used regularly by groups such as RV clubs, family reunions and weddings.

The vast grassy field shaded by huge oak trees offers lots of space for many activities, like softball, volleyball and horseshoes. Grills and picnic tables complete the outdoor experience of this facility along the St. Johns River.


Parking:

While RVs are welcome, there are no hook-ups and all vehicles must remain in the designated parking area.


Directions:

River Forest is northwest of Deland off CR 42, just north of its junction with SR 44 immediately west of the bridge over the St. Johns River.
