Sweetwater Cabin

Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, this classic example of 1930s CCC architecture is perched above a chalky blue spring - Sweetwater Spring - that creates a stream feeding Juniper Creek. It is one of the most popular and secretive getaways in the Ocala National Forest.

Fees Sweetwater Cabin costs $800 a week to rent. To reserve, call Recreation Resource Management at 352-625-0546 or follow their online instructions.

Because of its popularity, a lottery is held each year to determine the 52 visitors (each of whom can bring a party of 12) who are fortunate enough to rent this historic site.

Restrictions: Cabin occupancy is limited to 12 people. Pets are not permitted on the property due to its sensitive historic and ecologic nature.
Closest Towns: Salt Springs, approximately 12 miles north, has groceries, gas station, hardware, outfitter supplies, and laundromat.

Information Center: Built in 1935, Sweetwater Cabin is a rustic 2 bedroom cabin that sleeps 12, and has a full bath, equipped kitchen including microwave, coffee pot, toaster, dishes and silverware.  The living room has a rustic fireplace. Bring your own linens, pillows and food.
