Domke Mountain Lookout Trail #1280A


This trail is a day hike from Lucerne or Domke Lake. The trail was originally built to access an old lookout on Domke Mountain. The scenery is outstanding, views spectacular, and it is a good location just to wander around. No camping facilities are provided. Plan to carry water.

Fees: Using a personal boat is another option to get to this trail by docking at Lucerne or Refrigerator Harbor Forest Service Docks. There is a Fee involved for using these docks: A Federal Dock Site Boat Permit is required from May 1 – October 31 for use of all National Forest and Park Service docks on Lake Chelan.  Permits must be pre-purchased before docking.  Purchase a $5 Day Permit or $40 Seasons Pass at the Chelan or Entiat Ranger Districts, or Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest Headquarters Offices (open Monday – Friday  from 7:45 am – 4:30 pm); or from one of many Chelan and Manson Area vendors.  To order by phone, call the Chelan Ranger District @ 509-682-4900 and pay via credit card during business hours.  Permits may also be purchased at Stehekin.

Parking:

There are two main parking areas (for a fee) for up lake travel when using the Lady of the Lake services.  The Boat company dock in Chelan and Field’s Point Landing, located 17 miles out of Chelan on the South Shore road.

Field's Point Fees:

Day Use 3-12 hours: $5.00

Over Night: $7.00

5-7 Days: $30.00


Directions:

From Chelan, boat approximately 40 miles to Lucerne Landing (there are no roads that connect the City of Chelan to Lucerne or Holden).

OR

From Chelan, travel south on Highway 97 Alternate for 3 miles. Turn right onto Southshore Road and go approximately 17 miles to Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park. From the Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park boat launch, boat approximately 21 miles. Lucerne Landing is on the south shore.

From Lucerne Landing, Hike along the Railroad Creek Road #3100 for approximately ¼ mile to the Domke Lake #1280 trailhead. Hike up the Domke Lake Trail for just over 1 mile to the junction with Domke Mountain Lookout Trail #1280A.

Notes:
The Lady of the Lake provides passenger ferry service from Chelan to Stehekin with stops available at Fields Point, Prince Creek, Moore Point, and Lucerne. Please check their website for availability, fees, and scheduling: ladyofthelake.com

Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park is a popular boat launch for accessing many up lake recreation sites via personal boat.
