Esmeralda Trailhead

Provides access to Esmerelda Basin Trail #1394 and Ingalls Way Trail #1390 which enters Alpine Lakes Wilderness.

NOTE: October 21, 2016. Forest Service Road 9737 sustained flood damage on half mile below the trialhead. Parking is at Iron Peak Trailhead, 1 mile south. Temporary repairs are expected to be completed Monday October 24.

Fees $5/Vehicle/day or Northwest Forest Pass. Washington State Discover passes are not valid on National Forest lands.
Permit Info: Wilderness permits are required to enter Alpine Lakes Wilderness. The self-issuing permits are free and are available at trailheads.

General Information


From  Cle Elum, WA  follow Highway 903/W for 2 miles. Continue straight onto Highway 10/ 970 and follow for 6.5 miles. Turn left on Teanaway Road North Fork and follow for 13 miles. Then stay right on Forest Road 9737 and follow for about 9.6 miles to the Esmeralda trailhead.
