Icicle Creek Trail #1551

  

This valley-bottom trail goes through old-growth timber within Alpine Lakes Wilderness. There is limited horse feed.  A landslide that occurred in 2011 has damaged the trail beyond recognition approximately 2 miles south of Lake Josephine in the area with the junction of  Chain Lakes Trail #1569.  This section of trail is passable on foot but not recommended for stock.

Permit Info: Alpine Lake Wilderness permit required.  These are self-issuing at the trailhead.

  • Campfires prohibited above 5000'; at Josephine Lake; and within 1/2 mile of the junction with the French Creek Trail #1595. 
  • Designated hiker camps at French Creek Camp.
  • Camping with stock prohibited at Josephine Lake.
  • Use certified weed-free or commercially processed stock feed only.

General Information

Directions:

The trail begins at the Icicle Creek Trailhead located 20 miles up Icicle Creek Road #7600.  The trail ends at the Pacific Crest Trail #2000.

From Leavenworth, WA, head southwest on Icicle Creek Road/ Forest Road 7600, and follow it for about 20 miles. (Stay left on Forest Road 7600 after passing Icicle Gorge Trailhead at about 16 miles up Icicle Creek Road.) The trailhead is located at the end of Icicle Creek Road/ Forest Road 7600.
