The Cle Elum Ranger District encompasses approximately 375,000 acres and extends from the near the city of Ellensburg and the Yakima River to the crest of the Cascades in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness and Snoqualmie Pass areas. It is bordered by the Wenatchee River Ranger District to the north along the Wenatchee Mountains - Mt. Stuart divide and by the Naches Ranger District to the south along the Manastash Ridge divide. To the west of the district is the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest

The Table Mountain Fire area will be open for winter recreation this winter, and that main routes will be groomed, except the Naneum meadow road #3530 will only be groomed down to Naneum Meadow itself. Below there, and up into Howard Creek the area burned extremely hot and there are many unstable snags that we expect to fall rapidly during the winter. The 3521 side route will also not be groomed for the same reason. The rest of the area will be open as always, but people will need to be very aware that snags may fall unexpectedly and in greater numbers than usual, especially during a wind. Ride as if there’s a new tree down around every corner! Signs to that effect will be posted at the Sno-Parks. We will probably also be looking for some volunteers to ride with the groomers, at least during the first several trips.
