The trail climbs moderately through forest into Lake-Chelan Sawtooth Wilderness to Williams Lake. It then travels across shale and talus slopes and through an old burned area. Trail ends at the lake. Beautiful alpine larch colors in late September.
Wilderness regulations apply. Please tie stock 200' or further from the lake shore. Certified weed free hay is required on national forest lands (proccessed grains okay).
A valid Recreation Pass is required at Williams Creek Trailhead. ($5/vehicle/day Northwest Forest Pass can be purchased from a self-pay station provided at nearby Twisp River Horse Camp or at Gilbert trailhead).
From Twisp travel west on Twisp River Road (county road 9114) for 12 miles, until it becomes paved Forest Service Road 44. Drive 2.5 miles,turn left on War Creek Bridge Road, after crossing bridge turn right onto forest road 4430 road and drive for 3.5 miles, and turn left onto Williams Creek Trailhead Road.
