Kachess Campground

Kachess Campground is a pleasant 5-1/2 mile drive from Interstate 90, Exit 62. The 92 acre Forest Service facility is located on the northwest shore of Kachess Lake with Little Kachess Lake to the immediate north. Set in dense old-growth evergreens and surrounded by high mountains, Kachess Campground has over 100 campsites and one group campsite (by reservation only). It is an excellent location for family camping.

There are two boat launches and a picnic area. These water access points accommodate cartoppers and trailer boats and there is parking for vehicles & trailers. The south boat launch is paved; and the north boat launch is maintained gravel. On busy summer weekends, the boat launch and day use parking areas fill up fast.

Fees: Single Campsite: $24; Double Campsite: $45;  Group Site: $130 ; Extra vehicle: $8 , (2nd vehicle for single sites, 3rd and 4 vehicles for double sites) will be collected at the campground. Extra vehicle is defined as any vehicle (motorhome, trailer, or passenger vehicle) that is not towed in with the first vehicle. If primary vehicle fills the parking pad, no additional vehicles will be allowed. Day use: $8/vehicle/day.

From Cle Elum, travel west on I-90 for about 20 miles. Take Exit 62 and follow Kachess Lake Road for 5-1/2 miles to campground, which is on the right.

Group Camping

One group campsite is available by reservation only. The site has one vault toilet, several picnic tables, a large fire ring and parking. Up to 50 are allowed at the group site.

Kachess Lake is an irrigation reservoir that serves agriculture in the lower Kittitas Valley and Yakima County. Water levels will vary, and typically drop in late summer. The paved boat ramp may be out of service due to low water by mid-August depending on drawdown due to irrigation demands. The primitive boat launch at the north end of the campground near Box Canyon Creek is typically dry by early July. 

Hours of Operation: Campground is open 24 hours per day. Quiet hours 10pm - 6am Gate house hours Thursday through Sunday 8am - 6pm
