Kachess Campground is a pleasant 5-1/2 mile drive from Interstate 90, Exit 62. The 92 acre Forest Service facility is located on the northwest shore of Kachess Lake with Little Kachess Lake to the immediate north. Set in dense old-growth evergreens and surrounded by high mountains, Kachess Campground has over 100 campsites and one group campsite (by reservation only). It is an excellent location for family camping.

There are two boat launches and a picnic area. These water access points accommodate cartoppers and trailer boats and there is parking for vehicles & trailers. The south boat launch is paved; and the north boat launch is maintained gravel. On busy summer weekends, the boat launch and day use parking areas fill up fast.

Reservations: Single, Double and Group sites: 1-877-444-6777 (International 518-885-3639 or TDD 877-833-6777) or on-line at recreation.gov. Some campsites are first come, first served.
Fees Single Campsite: $21; Double Campsite: $42;  Group Site: $115; Extra vehicle: $8 (2nd vehicle for single sites, 3rd and 4 vehicles for double sites) will be collected at the campground. Extra vehicle is defined as any vehicle (motorhome, trailer, or passenger vehicle) that is not towed in with the first vehicle. If primary vehicle fills the parking pad, no additional vehicles will be allowed. Day use: $8/vehicle/day

Restrictions: Water levels in Kachess Lake and Little Kachess Lake will vary during the summer as water is drawn to provide irrigation for the lower valleys. Single sites allow six people; Double sites allow 12 people.

General Information


From Cle Elum, travel west on I-90 for about 20 miles. Take Exit 62 and follow Kachess Lake Road for 5-1/2 miles to campground, which is on the right.
