Emerald Park Trail #1230

This trail within Glacier Peak Wilderness starts near Lucerne. The trail begins in heavy timber and ends in open meadows with some spectacular views to be had. It is an overnight hike or a very long day hike from Domke Lake or Lucerne. The lower trail passes through the Domke Lake Fire burn area. Because of the steepness of parts of the trail, day hiking is not recommended. The trail has about 4 streams that are reliable for getting drinking water.

The trail is gradual climb for the first 1-½ miles, turning to occasional switchbacks and steep rocky pitches up to Lower Emerald Park at the 4½ mile point. It again becomes gradual for 1 mile to Emerald Park (so named for the emerald-like appearance of the meadows viewed from Milham Pass). Once out of Emerald Park, it’s another mile of steep climb to Milham Pass.

Campsites are located at Cedar Camp (junction with Lower Railroad Creek Trail), which has 1 table, Lower Emerald Park (2 campsites but no facilities), and Emerald Park which has 3 tables, 3 fire grates and 1 toilet. Horse feed is available from just above Lower Emerald Park to the upper end of the Park. It is a popular high hunt area, and is also the beginning of Mirror Lake Trail. Emerald Park Trail crosses Milham Pass to meet the Entiat River Trail #1400 within the Entiat Ranger District.

Parking:

There are two main parking areas (for a fee) for up lake travel when using the Lady of the Lake services. The Boat company dock in Chelan and Field’s Point Landing, located 17 miles out of Chelan on the South Shore road.

Field's Point Fees:

Directions:

From Chelan, boat approximately 40 miles to Lucerne Landing (there are no roads that connect the City of Chelan to Lucerne or Holden).

From Chelan, travel south on Highway 97A for 3 miles. Turn right onto Southshore Road and go approximately 17 miles to Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park. From the Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park boat launch, boat approximately 21 miles. Lucerne Landing is on the south shore.

From Lucerne Landing, Hike along the Railroad Creek Road #3100 for approximately ¼ mile to the Domke Lake #1280 trailhead. Hike up the Domke Lake trail for 1.5 miles to the junction with Emerald Park Trail #1230.
