Taneum Campground


Area Status: Closed

Located along Tanuem Creek near the site of a former CCC camp. The picnic shelter was built by the CCC's. Ponderosa Pine and Douglas Fir shade the area.

Camp ground is walk in only in June. Once snow melt ends and water levels in Taneum Creek slow to summer lows, access into the campground requires driving through Taneum Creek on a cement ford.

Reservations: Sites are first come/first served only.
Fees: Fees: Single Site: $20 Extra Vehicle: $6 (2nd vehicle for single sites, 3rd and 4 vehicles for double sites) will be collected at the campground. Extra vehicle is defined as any vehicle (motorhome, trailer, or passenger vehicle) that is not towed in with the first vehicle. If primary vehicle fills the parking pad, no additional vehicles will be allowed.

Water: Water at spigots
Restroom: Vault Toilet (2)
Passes: 50% discount for camping in single sites with any of these passes: Interagency Senior, Interagency Access, Golden Age, or Golden Access. Discounts do not apply to double or group sites.

General Information

Directions:

From I-90 Exit 93, Elk Heights/Taneum Creek travel north 1/4 mile to Thorp Prairie Road. Turn right and go about 3.5 miles to East Taneum Road. Turn right and cross over I-90 then turn right on West Taneum Road, which becomes Forest Service Road 33. Drive about 6 miles to Taneum Campground on the left.
