Trail puncheon along the upper section of the Lower Dungeness Trail #833.

This 6.5 mile multi-use trail starts at the Lower Dungeness/Gold Creek trailhead off Forest Road 2870-230. It travels within conifer forest above Dungeness River and has some difficult sections. Mossy rock outcrops and steep side slopes are found in the Three O'clock Ridge area, also some valley and mountain views.

Restrictions:
  • Please use existing campsites and camp at least 100 feet from water sources.
  • Treat all water taken from streams before drinking.
  • Pack out what you pack in.
  • Non- hikers - Please avoid using the lower sections during wet weather due to soil types that can sustain a lot of damage.

Lower Dungeness/Gold Creek Trailhead - provides access to Lower Dungeness Trail & Gold Creek Trail.

Upper Dungeness Trailhead - provides access to both lower and upper portions of the Dungeness Trail.

The only off-road motorized riding use allowed on the Olympic National Forest are e-bikes or registered dirt bikes, on these trails:

ATV, UTV, OHVs, or other forms of motorized transportation are not allowed anywhere on the Olympic National Forest.

  • Washington State ORV Bill 1632 does not apply to federally managed Forest Service roads.
