Spring Lake Recreation Area
The Magazine Ranger District is located in the Arkansas River Valley on the western edge of the Ozark National Forest. This area is known for its beautiful, natural scenery, sandstone bluffs, flowing steams, lakes and pristine landscapes. Open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, 82-acre Spring Lake is a favorite area for water sports such as swimming and fishing. Camping and picnicking are also popular pastimes. The beautiful hardwood forest surrounding the lake provides the backdrop for wildflowers that bloom year-round. 13 family campsite units. 19 family picnic units. Pavilions. Swimming Beach. Camping trailers are allowed, but no special facilities are available. All campsites have a picnic table, tent pad, fire ring, and lantern pole. Areas of interest include Cove Lake, Mt. Magazine State Park, Mt. Nebo State Park, Sorghum Hollow Horse Camp, Mt. Magazine Scenic Byway, Huckleberry Horse Trail, and Petit Jean River. Medical services and camping supplies are available sixteen miles away in Dardanelle.

Current Conditions: | The campground and lake is open for the season; the bathhouse is open and water is available. No reservations. Sites available on a first-come/first-based only. The Spring Lake Dam pedestrian walkway is closed to pedestrian traffic for safety reasons until repairs can be made. The dam itself is not affected. General Information
Directions: Take Arkansas 27 (paved) southwest from Dardanelle for 9 miles, then right (west) on Arkansas 307 (paved) 3 miles to Forest Service Road 1602 (gravel) continuing 4 miles to Spring Lake, OR take Arkansas 307 (paved) north from Belleville for 4 miles to Forest Service Road 1602 (gravel), continue on 1602 for 3 miles.
