Granite Basin Boating Site


The Granite Basin Lake is a small (approximately 5 surface acre) lake.  This site has a boat ramp for non-motorized boats or boats with an electric motor not exceeding 10 manufacturer-rated horsepower.  .

Note: This site closes following especially heavy rain or snow, and when the roads are too icy.  If you plan to visit and want to make sure it is open, please contact the Bradshaw Ranger Station: 928-443-8000.  When the office is closed, please check the right-hand column under "Alerts and Warnings" to see if there are weather-related closures, and follow the link to see if this site is closed or on a reduced schedule.

Directions:

From the corner of Iron Springs Rd. and Williamson Valley Rd in Prescott, AZ: Northwest on Iron Springs approximately 3 miles. Right on Granite Basin Rd. Follow road 3.5 miles. Boat Ramp is on the right.

Activities

Lake and Pond Fishing

  • Granite Basin Lake is a small (5 acre) lake. It is not stocked with fish, but patient anglers may catch bluegill, largemouth bass and catfish.
  • A valid fishing or combination license is required for resident and non-resident anglers 10 years of age or older fishing any public accessible water in Arizona.

Picnicking

  • There are several picnic tables with pedistal grills scattered along the shore between the Boat Launch and Playa Picnic Site.  

Boating - Motorized

Visitors may us a boat with an electric motor not exceeding 10 manufacturer-rated horsepower.  

Boating - Non-Motorized

  • Non-motorized boats are allowed on Granite Basin Lake.

Swimming

Please see the news release dated August 28, 2020 for more information about swimming in the lakes on the Forest.  Note: Swimming is prohibited on and in front of the boat launch, but allowed anywhere else along the shore.
