Chalk Springs Trail #89
The Chalk Springs trail is 1.2 miles long. After initially dropping down toward Chalk Spring, the trail climbs to its high point at 5,792’. Just past this high point, to the east, there is a junction with Daniels Ridge Trail #9219, which exits to the north. Continuing to the east, there are multiple wash crossings before a short climb and one final descent to the trail’s end at Forest Road 9262H.
This trail is open to hikers, horseback riders, mountain bikers, and motorcycles. Please be considerate of other users – slow down and know when to yield the trail. Refrain from using horses, bikes, and motorcycles when trails are wet.

General Information
Directions:From the intersection of Cortez Street and Gurley Street, drive east on Gurley Street for 1.2 miles and stay right to remain on Highway 69. Follow Highway 69 for 24 miles before turning right on Central Avenue in Meyer. After 1 mile, turn right at the intersection next to the Post Office. At the T-intersection, turn left and continue two blocks to the blue “Prescott National Forest” sign. Turn right on 1st Street and continue to the stop sign at Fair Mist Avenue. Turn left following the blue “Prescott National Forest” signs along Jefferson Street, which turns into Forest Road 67. At 3.9 miles past Old Mayer Cemetery, turn right on Forest Road 9213A. Follow Forest Road 9213A uphill for 1.7 miles to Trailhead 89.
TRAVEL TIME: 1 hour and 15 minutes from Prescott downtown.
ROAD CONDITIONS: Most of the route follows paved roads until entering the National Forest, where the remainder of the route is unpaved. A 4x4 vehicle may be necessary after turning onto Forest Road 9213A.
