Painted Rocks Campground

  

This rustic campground located approximately 7 miles north of Woodland Park at 7800' elevation has 18 campsites with parking areas up to 30' ft.

Located a short distance from Manitou Lake and the Centennial Bike Trail, Painted Rocks campground is an ideal getaway for families or singles. The lake is frequently stocked, weather permitting, and provides a great place to enjoy the great outdoors. Access to the lake is included in your campground fee. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. There is water available in the campground as well as garbage dumpsters and vault toilets. While most sites have ponderosa pine shade, some are in full sun. The campground host has firewood for sale during the season.

Twelve of the campsites can be reserved. The camping season usually begins in May and runs through early September.

This campground is a standard, non-electric site.

Fees
$20.00 fee per site for overnight camping. Two (2) vehicles or one (1) RV per site is included in the camping fee. $6.00 for a third vehicle. 
 
$6.00 fee for day use if not camping overnight.
 
Fees are payable by cash, check or money order. Self-servicing fee tube is available.
 
First-come, first-served sites must be occupied the SAME NIGHT.
 
Golden Age and Golden Access Cardholder: 50% discount off the camping fee only.

Restrictions: The following restrictions apply to this campground:
  • Dogs must be leashed at all times.
  • No discharge of firearms or fireworks.
  • Only licensed vehicles can operate inside campground.
  • Camping is NOT ALLOWED behind a LOCKED GATE.

Passes:

The Interagency Senior Pass (previously known as the Golden Age Pass) and the Interagency Access Pass qualifies for a 50% discount at concessionaire run campsites. The discount only applies to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party.

Information Center: Limited sites are reserved by calling 1-877-444-6777 or logging on to www.recreation.gov and can be made 240 days prior to arrival. There is a reservation fee.

General Information

Directions:

From Colorado Springs, Colorado, travel west on Highway 24 for approx. 25 miles, turn onto highway 67 and travel 5 miles from Woodland Park to campground turnoff on left side of highway. Take gravel road approx. 1/2 mile to campground entrance on left side of highway. Take gravel road approx. 1/2 mile to campground entrance on left side of road.


Parking:

 

This campground has a narrow road and campsite spurs and is not recommended for large motorhomes or large trailers.Regardless of the length of the parking spur, there may be only one recreational vehicle per single camp site. Double sites may have two recreational vehicles. Recreational vehicles are trailers and Class A, B, & C motor homes.  There is a maximum of two vehicles (cars/suvs/trucks) per site, an additional fee will be collected on-site for extra vehicles. Sites 8, 11, 12, & 13 are tent only sites.

Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance.  This campground requires a 2 night minimum stay on weekends and a 3 night minimum stay on holiday weekends.
