This campground is the highest elevation campground on the Salida Ranger District. The elevation is 11,000 feet and the campsites are situated on the north shore of the North Fork Reservoir. The campground is small with only 9 sites. The road to the campground is very rough and not recommended for vehicles towing trailers. High clearance vehicles are a requirement for reaching this campground.

This is a first-come, first-served campground. No reservation is needed.
$18.00 fee per site for overnight camping. Two (2) vehicles is included in the camping fee. $5.00 for a third vehicle.
$6.00 fee for day use if not camping overnight.
Fees are payable by check or money order. Self-servicing fee tube is available.
First-come, first-served sites must be occupied the SAME NIGHT.
Golden Age and Golden Access Cardholder: 50% discount off the camping fee only.

The following restrictions apply to this campground:
Maximum 8 persons per site: 2 tents and 2 vehicles or 1 recreation vehicle.
Dogs must be leashed at all times.
No discharge of firearms or fireworks.
Only licensed vehicles can operate inside campground.
Camping is NOT ALLOWED behind a LOCKED GATE.
The Interagency Senior Pass (previously known as the Golden Age Pass) and the Interagency Access Pass qualifies for a 50% discount at concessionaire run campsites. The discount only applies to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party.
Peak season: 05/15-09/14; Post season: 09/15-09/28. Peak season is a full-service time period. Post season has reduced service such as water, trash, or a host may not be available.
From Salida, CO, travel west for 5 miles to Poncha Springs, CO then continue west on Highway 50 for 6 miles to County Road 240. Turn right on CR 240 and stay on this road for 3 miles to the Angel of Shavano campground. From the campground the road continues west for 6 miles to the North Fork reservoir and campground.
This campground is not universally accessible.
The road from Angel of Shavano campground is extremely rocky and rough. High clearance vehicles are recommend.
Camping & Cabins
During peak season, the campground has full service. Pre- and post seasons have reduced services such as vault toilets, water, trash, or a host may not be available.
Lake and Pond Fishing
This reservoir offers anglers a chance to fish one of the area's most popular high elevation lakes. The reservoir is situated at 11,000 feet so anglers should be prepared for all types of weather. The reservoir is regularly stocked with Rainbow Trout.
